This song was originally released in 1987, but it didn't appear on an album until 1990. I remember sitting at the kitchen table, in a friend's house, when I first heard this on the radio. The song didn't really grab me, when I first heard it. This is a song that got stuck in my head for awhile. Because of that, the song grew on me.

After the few weeks of constant airplay, the song largely disappeared from radio and was an afterthought in my head. When I became a DJ for a local club in 1998, I thought of this song. The problem arose when I couldn't think of the title or the artist. As it turned out, I had the title all along, or at least part of it. I remembered Boom Boom Boom.

Armed with that information, I kept running into songs that I was already familiar with by artists like John Lee Hooker. It wasn't until I was killing time at 3AM in Walmart, where I actually got my first lead. I saw the song on a nightclubbing compilation of the eighties. The song title seemed right and the elements seemed right, but I wasn't sure about the artist. Paul Lekakis doesn't really sound like a man with a hit eighties dance song. He sounds more like a sensitive acoustic guitar playing seventies songwriter.

I purchased the compilation CD and played it when I got home. The first notes poured out of my speakers and it sounded right. Then, when Paul started to sing the first line, I knew it was the right song. Eleven years after the fact, I tracked down a song that had eluded me for almost as long.
